Under the Tuscan Sun in Coconut Grove
Italian grandeur reminiscent of a sunny Tuscan villa in the historic heart of Coconut Grove. We had two missions here: retain many of the original architectural details of this stately home, design around them, and use this as a giant space for the client’s important art collection while creating a home not a museum.
The client collects contemporary art. The scheme was to blend the pieces with the traditional architecture and restore many of the home’s original finishes. Fabrics and furniture were carefully selected to accentuate the exquisite artwork in each room.
There was so much natural light to play with that we let it inform our choices of colors and textures. The bones of this home were truly magnificent, so not much was done to the original structure. We did open up a wall from the foyer into the living room to create more of a grand entrance. Another interior wall was also removed to create a bar and wine room important to the clients who love to entertain.
